XRP Lawsuit: Ripple And SEC Request Additional Time to Disclose Hinman Files — Is A Settlement Looming?

A recent development in the legal battle between Ripple and the SEC has led to a joint proposal to seal confidential material related to an upcoming briefing in the case.

Upcoming Briefings Will Be Kept Confidential

Ripple and the SEC have requested U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres to seal sensitive information in the upcoming briefing to address privacy concerns.

Defense lawyer James K. Filan shared details on Twitter about the sealing proposal, mentioning that if approved, information regarding Ripple‘s financial records and post-complaint XRP institutional sales contracts will not be accessible to the public.

The impact of keeping these details confidential on investor sentiment remains uncertain. It is also unclear when the case, which began in December 2020, will conclude, despite moving into the remedies phase.

Remedies Timeline

Important dates are coming up in the XRP legal dispute. The SEC will submit its remedies-related brief under seal on March 22, followed by redactions on March 25. A public, redacted version will be released on March 26, with Ripple‘s opposition brief due by April 22.

The SEC’s reply brief is expected on May 6, with the case continuing until May 20 for further filings related to sealing details. The final verdict from Judge Torres could come this year or in 2025.

XRP-price-outlook”>XRP Price Outlook

XRP has faced challenges in the market, with the price lingering below $0.60. While bitcoin hit new highs, XRP remains 82.7% lower than its peak in January 2018. Breaking above $0.65 may indicate a bullish trend towards $1.
