Do Kwon’s Extradition Update

After a series of legal proceedings, it seems that Do Kwon, the co-founder of Terraform Labs, may soon be extradited to South Korea. The Appellate Court of Montenegro has confirmed a previous decision to hand him over to authorities in his home country.

Previous Extradition Orders

Terraform Labs’ CEO, who was arrested in March 2023 with Kwon in Montenegro, initially faced extradition to the US. However, the Appellate Court intervened and now Kwon is facing extradition to South Korea.

Confirmation of Extradition to South Korea

The Appellate Court of Montenegro upheld the decision to extradite Do Kwon to South Korea. The Court rejected Kwon’s appeal against the extradition order.

Despite winning previous appeals, Kwon now faces extradition to South Korea. The Appellate Court cited procedural violations as the reason for overruling the decision to deport him to the US.

Extradition Process

While the date of the extradition is not specified, South Korea’s Police are seeking assistance from Interpol to bring Kwon back to the country.

Precedence of South Korea’s Request

The Appellate Court considered South Korea’s extradition request before the US request due to the order of arrival. US prosecutors are opposing Kwon’s extradition to South Korea.

Kwon, who was found guilty of using a fake passport, was sentenced to four months in prison. Prosecutors in the US are pursuing charges related to the collapse of TerraUSD and LUNA tokens.
