Letting go of the fiat world is not just about embracing bitcoin; it’s about letting go of everything we once believed in. To illustrate this, let me share a personal story of my own transformation.

I grew up in Germany as the oldest of four brothers. My father, a dedicated member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), instilled his political beliefs in me from a young age. As I got older, I embraced his worldview and identified strongly with the values of the SPD. However, my arguments in political debates were often weak and lacking substance because I simply regurgitated my father’s beliefs.

Fast forward to 2020, a year dominated by global lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions, and I found myself with an abundance of free time. It was during this period that a friend introduced me to bitcoin. Intrigued, I delved into the world of cryptocurrencies and, like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, I became completely enamored with bitcoin.

As I immersed myself in books and podcasts about bitcoin, something profound happened. I began to question everything I thought I knew about the world. The ideas and opinions I once held dear were revealed to be mere echoes of my father’s, my mother’s, and my friends’. The pain of losing my sense of self was intense, but it was a necessary awakening.

Embracing bitcoin also means being able to let it go. While many bitcoin enthusiasts have tied their identity and livelihoods to this digital currency, it is important to recognize that everything in life is transient. The Greek saying, “panta rhei” or “everything flows,” reminds us that nothing is solid or permanent, including bitcoin.

In order to fully embrace bitcoin, we must be willing to detach ourselves from it and question everything. Only by stepping back and observing from an outsider’s perspective can we truly see the bigger picture. This realization shook the foundation of my previous worldview and allowed me to let go of rigid attachments to ideas and ideologies.

**H2: The Journey Towards Self-Discovery**

Through this journey, I learned to no longer tie people to their ideas. I witnessed how individuals in the bitcoin community, whose self-identity is intertwined with bitcoin, feel attacked when faced with criticism. However, just as bitcoin itself is not infallible, our beliefs and ideas are also subject to change.

While the chances of bitcoin‘s failure are slim, we must continuously question and challenge our assumptions. By doing so, we gain a broader perspective that goes beyond any individual cryptocurrency or ideological stance. We can work together while maintaining the freedom to let go and evolve individually.

Reflecting on these past three years, I realize that our sense of self should not be tied to any single idea or belief. The question “Who am I?” extends far beyond the realm of bitcoin. It is an existential inquiry that each individual must explore and answer for themselves.

**H2: Conclusion**

Letting go of the fiat world and embracing bitcoin is a transformative journey. It requires us to release our attachments to old beliefs, question everything, and ultimately find our own sense of self. As we navigate this path, let us remember that everything in life is temporary and subject to change. Only by embracing this impermanence can we truly understand and appreciate the power of bitcoin.
