Glassnode Sells Accointing to Blockpit

Glassnode, a prominent blockchain analytic platform, has made the decision to sell its crypto tax-related project, Accointing, to the European crypto compliance provider Blockpit.

Blockpit views this acquisition as an opportunity to further strengthen the European Crypto Tax Compliance landscape. They have taken over Accointing in a multi-million dollar deal and anticipate that this acquisition will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the industry.

Although the platform will be discontinued at the end of January next year, the process for its users to transfer their data to a Blockpit account is simple and can be done with just a few clicks.

In addition, Accointing users will be entitled to free Blockpit unlimited licenses for all tax years before 2023, as per the official announcement. This will allow everyone to experience Blockpit’s platform and develop an affinity for it.

Impact of the Merger

With the acquisition of Accointing, Blockpit has further strengthened Europe’s position in the crypto tax landscape. This merger, along with the previous combination of Blockpit with the German competitor Cryptotax in 2020, has established a “clear leader” in Central Europe in this field.

Florian Wimmer, CEO and co-founder of Blockpit, expressed that the merger emerged at the right time to anticipate the upcoming regulatory enforcement of crypto tax laws.

Regulatory Compliance

This acquisition comes at a strategically timed period with the approval of the Eighth Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC8) by the European Parliament. These regulations require cryptocurrency firms to disclose customer holdings data to tax authorities, and member states are required to incorporate these rules into their systems by December 31, 2025.
